Who are we?
We're a group of artists from Southern Oregon telling the stories we want to see made real. Animators, illustrators, writers, and sound designers wanting to make a project bigger than ourselves with a story that's a blend of traditional and experimental.
What are we doing?
Our goal is to produce animated projects. Right now our focus is 2D, but 3D may be something we mess with in the future.Our current animated project is Monna Chroma, a Sci-Fi/Fantasy adventure series following a girl whose father has gone missing, and a strange entity named Alpha-Zero-Theta looking for his missing love. How did we get here?
The founder, Chris of Lefty's Comics, had been working on Monna Chroma off and on since 2014. After meeting Sierra, and pulling in Daniel for another rodeo, the three of them founded Negative Grass Studio with the vision to create animated films. Their collective mission is to tell stories that have been stuck inside their heads through hand animation, and fiery spirits.Negative Grass Studio believes in human made art only.
Projects
This is where it gets interesting.
The only thing Monna wants to do is find her father. Nearly alone in the whole of Altária — a magical world full of bellowing sky ships, monsters that defy logic, and helpful companions — she must take it upon herself to find him. As a 13-year-old with an unspoken connection to the moons and a strange mark on the back of her dominant hand, Monna must adventure across the land - collecting enchanted capelettes and other items to help her combat the threats of an unforgiving world. This is the only way she’ll find out where, how, and why her father disappeared 3 years ago.
